Payless Shoes is now going to have green shoes, coming in April 2009! It turns out that Payless is serious about making green shoes that are not only sustainable but also fashionable and affordable.
In the beginning, the shoe line will be just women’s shoes, with men and children’s shoes to follw. And the price is right, all shoes will sell for under $30!
Payless is trying to make green shoes available to people who have been priced out of the green marketplace.
Not only will the shoes be fashionable, but will be made of organic cotton, linens, hemp and recycled outsoles, as well as using environmentally sustainable packaging.
I am looking forward to Spring of 2009!

When I started researching I found that there is so much information about what to do, what not to do, and many difference of opinion on what was best. Good news is that I am beginning to make some progress and have found that there are many things I can do that are easy to do and will contribute to reducing global warming.
There are many government agencies with great information; however, it is often presented in government language. Just try to understand the tax breaks available to people who install solar panels in their homes. It is not easy, let me tell you.

Fortunately, as time has gone on, I have found many resources out there that are helpful, and just not doom and gloom about the planet falling apart. While I do believe our planet is in great trouble, focusing on the developing disaster is not as helpful, in my opinion, as focusing on what actions we can take now to prevent the disaster from happening.
This blog is based on the idea that we all matter, and the choices we make impact everyone. I am trying to use a common sense approach to living a sustainable and balanced lifestyle, one that contributes positively to our environment. I will be sharing here anything that I find useful.
As a loan officer here in Santa Cruz, CA I know first hand how expensive a home is and on top of that, how expensive it is to maintain. I know now that all of us can reduce global warming by our choices whether we own a home or not. What is even better is that many of the energy saving ideas will also save you money in the long run. J
